The Asset Description Metadata Schema (ADMS) and Data Set Catalogue Vocabulary have a lot in common. Also the Asset Description Metadata Schema for Software (ADMS.SW) is based on ADMS. Working on ADMS.SW it became clear that a lot from ADMS could be reused, but not all elements from ADMS were relevant for ADMS.SW.

Considering all this and with the purpose of reducing complexity of the ADMS.SW model, the common elements of ADMS, ADMS.SW and DCAT are separated in a top level model. Because the key class names in this model are Repository, Asset and Distribution, the model got the name RADion.
