Eurostat is the statistical office of the European Union. Its mission is to provide high quality statistics and data on Europe. In this capacity it collaborates closely with many international partners, notably within the European Statistical System, where safe and standardised exchange of statistical data is crucial for the Eurostat’s mission.
Eurostat supports, manages, and develops several openly available tools for sharing harmonised statistical data and metadata. The term ‘harmonised’ is used to indicate that data can be interpreted and compared across topics, geographical regions, and time. Harmonisation with IT solutions is based on standards that cover technical data exchange, standardised concepts, and privacy-protected data exchange.
