Interoperability
The ability of Union entities and public sector bodies to interact with each other by sharing data, information and knowledge through digital processes, in line with legal, organisational, semantic and technical requirements.
Cross-border interoperability
Interoperability that involves interaction across Member State borders.
Trans-European digital public services
Digital services provided by Union entities or public sector bodies to one another or to natural or legal persons in the Union, requiring interaction across Member State borders, among Union entities or between Union entities and public sector bodies, by means of their network and information systems.
Interoperability solution
A reusable asset that enable different IT systems to work together seamlessly, facilitating the exchange of information between them, concerning legal, organisational, semantic or technical requirements to enable cross-border interoperability.
Sharing
The process of making an interoperability solution available to another Union entity or public sector body.
Reuse
The practice of supporting and enabling public administrations to share and reuse IT solutions, open source software, standards and solutions across the European public sector, in order to provide electronic services to citizens.
Reuse conditions
Conditions set by the sharing entity for the direct reuse of an interoperability solutions.
Adaptation
The modification of an interoperability solutions to meet specific needs.
Connected portal, catalogue or repository
A portal, catalogue or repository connected to the Interoperable Europe Portal in a way that makes relevant interoperability soutions accessbile, stable and maintainable through the Portal.
Solution owner
The entity which decides on sharing or publication within the applicable framework, sets any reuse conditions, oversees the sharing process, and ensures practical maintenance of the solution.
Sharing entity
The Union entity or public sector body that holds the interoperability solution and is asked to make it available.
Reusing entity
The Union entity or public sector body requesting and adopting the interoperability solution.
