Certificate Status Tool is a multiplatform application tool which provides validation of X509 Certificates based on Certificate Revocation Lists and the Online Certificate Status Protocol.
Certificates can either be imported or users can perform a LDAP lookup on preconfigured servers. Currently the configuration only includes LDAP servers of the Austrian Citizen Card and related services, but other LDAP servers and validation services can be easily added via the graphical user interface.
The Certificate Status Tool validates certificates based on their validity period, the signature and revocation information. Revocation information is obtained by using CRL's and the OCSP protocol. The OCSP and CRL URIs are extracted from the X509 Certificate (if provided), can be entered manually or added to the configuration.
The tool is tested on Windows, Linux and Mac OSX. For Windows an installer is provided, for Mac users we provide a dmg - package and for Linux users a Java archive is distributed. To run the application Java version 1.6 or greater is required.
