Preparing for the EU AI Act webinar recap

Published on: 23/09/2025 News

The data.europa academy’s July webinar, titled “Next steps to compliance: preparing for the EU AI Act,” attracted a record-breaking 1,300+ registrations, underscoring intense interest in AI regulation across Europe.

A policy and legal officer from DG CONNECT’s EU AI Office reviewed the EU AI Act timeline, highlighting that from 2 August 2025, rules for general-purpose AI come into effect and governance structures must be in place. The presentation also delved into the Act’s risk-based regulatory approach and the Commission’s implementation priorities.

The second part of the session, led by a data and AI strategy consultant from Capgemini Invent, explored the synergy between AI and open data, emphasising how open data can drive AI innovation, while striking the right balance between openness, protection, and digital sovereignty.

Both the recording and slides are now accessible to stakeholders who missed the live session.
