European Parliament adopts new EU Open Data rules

Yesterday, 13 June 2013, the European Parliament formally adopted the updated EU rules on the re-use of public sector information.

The new Directive (2013/37/EU) updates the 2003 Directive on Public Sector Information (2003/98/EC), among others with regards to charging rules, licensing, search on data portals, and interoperability. Member States will have 24 months from the date of entry into force of the revised Directive to transpose it into national laws.
