The first Workshop of the Community of European Semantic Assets Repositories (CESAR) attracted more than 50 participants from all over Europe. The workshop took place in Brussels on 7 March 2012 and was organised by the programme Interoperability Solutions for European Public Administrations (ISA Programme) of the European Commission.

At the workshop, several owners of Governmental semantic assets repositories first presented their experiences with setting up an infrastructure for metadata management. Following this plans of a number of organisations to describe their semantic assets using the Asset Description Metadata Schema (ADMS) have been discussed.

During the event it was announced that the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) Government Linked Data (GLD) Working Group will adopt ADMS and the Core PersonCore Business and Core Location vocabularies, which have been developed under the Action 1.1 of the ISA Programme. This means that by 2013, these specifications will either be published as official Notes or Recommendations by W3C. The adoption demonstrates the impact that concerted Action under ISA can have.
