We are very proud to announce to all of you that we have implemented new features in the OSOR.EU website that will enable all of you to better understand the projects that are hosted in our repository. With the help of this new feature we hope to provide better service to all the OSOR.EU users.
The Project Template provides a view of your project on the OSOR.EU website and it gives a “Business view” to decision makers that would like to reuse your software. We have inserted and organized the information as follow:
A Broader Description of your Project with the following fields:
- Description
- Features
- Future plans
- Get Involved
- Public Administration Reference
A better organization of the information and some added value information as follow:
1. A Quick View where the OSOR users will find:
- Under what license the project is developed and distributed
- A link towards the repository
- A link towards your website
- Which community the project belong to (if any).
- Number of downloads
2. The Download button. Very important that will bring directly the users in the
Download area of your projects. In the forge where you have organized your packages
3. The Rating users are able to rate the project and leave a comment on it.
4. The Metrics provides an overview of the activity that the project has in terms:
- Commits
- Developers
- Cost
5. Related Projects a list of project that have similar functionality
6. Contributors
people that are involved in the project
Below you will find some useful information on how to change the Project Description, How to update project information in general and how to activate/deactivate the Project Metrics.
How do I update my Description?
Go on your project page in the Repository (go to OSOR Forge, search for your project, click on the Admin menu, than click on Edit public info) and you can update your description. Please fill out strictly the different text areas maintaining the layout and the different headings.

Description
The OSOR.eu platform - particularly the OSOR.eu Repository and the OSOR.eu Forge - supports and encourages the re-use of publicly-financed Open Source Software developments, focusing on those of use to European public administrations.
Features
The main features OSOR.EU has are the following: 1. Case studies 2. News 3. Communities 4. Blogs 5. Wikis 6. Forge 7. SVN Just to mention some of them.
Future plans
In the next release you will find the following: 1. The Project Template 2. Virtual Forges 3. Improved Usability 4. Compliance with the w3C standards.

The OSOR.EU projects is deployed in the European Commission. You can actually visit it following the link: www.osor.eu
How do I update my project information?
All the information can be updated from the Gforge account that each project Administrator have. you just need to log in and modify the information you need. Of course data (n° of download) are generated directly from the OSOR.EU repository
For example you need to change a category on your project:
- Log in the OSOR.EU repository
- Click admin tab in the forge
- Click on the link "edit categories"
- Modify the category.
Remember that the scripts that updates the category in the OSOR.EU repository will update the project template only each hour. So in the worst case scenario you would need to wait an hour.
How can I stop the Metrics?
If your project doesn't have the source code in the Sub Version System, you won't have any statistics. If you would like to remove the Metrics from your Project Template:
- Log in the OSOR.EU repository
- Click on the tab Admin
- The list of the different services is listed
- Un-check the Metrics check box.
Now the system will not collect anymore information.
