Description
QGIS is an Open Source Geographic Information System.
We have worked hard to create GIS software (which is normally
proprietary and very expensive software) available to anyone who owns
a personal computer. QGIS currently works on most of the
Unix, Windows and OS X. QGIS platforms are developed using the
Qt software tools ([https://www.qt.io] (https://www.qt.io/)) and the
c + + language. This means that QGIS has a user interface (GUI)
lean, pleasant and easy to use.
QGIS wants to be an easy-to-use GIS that has functionalities and deals with
general purpose entity. The initial objective of the project was to:
be a GIS data viewer. QGIS achieved the objective of
be used for daily data visualisation needs
GIS, for data acquisition, for advanced GIS analyses and for the
presentations in the form of sophisticated maps, atlases and reports. QGIS
supports a wide range of raster and vector data formats, with a
new format medium that can be easily added using
plugin architecture.
QGIS is issued under GNU General Public License (LPG). Development
QGIS with this licence means you can inspect and modify the
source code and ensure that you, our user, will always have access
a free and cost-free GIS programme that you can freely
edit. Together with the copy of QGIS you should also have received a
full copy of the licence text you can also find
in the Appendix to this Manual [Appendix A: GNU General Public
License] (https://docs.qgis.org/3.22/it/docs/user_manual/appendices/GNU_GPL.html#gpl-appendix).
