Hi all
Can anyone here provide help regarding installing and implementing "ECI Online Collection Software (OCS) solution" [https://joinup.ec.europa.eu/solution/eci-online-collection-software-ocs…]. The documentation seems unclear and I am having all sorts of difficulties.

Hi Michael, I cannot help you (yet) but would like to learn from your experience as I am setting up a OCS myself. I'd like to get in touch.
Hi Christian. For your information, I gave up. Too many insurmountable hurdles and no real support. Sorry I won't be able to advise you. Michael
Hi Michaël,
Sorry to read that you gave up.
Is it related to your tentative to install the OCS on Mac, running OSX ?
or is it related to another problem?
If related to OCS on Mac, running OSX, indeed we do not provide support on that ( we validated our OCS on RedHat Linux).
If related to another problem, do not hesitate to contact us at DIGIT-ECI [at] ec[dot]europa[dot]eu we will try to reply you as rapidely as last time.
Several initiatives have run their OCS at their premises, so it should work and if there are issues we are interested in knowing them and fixing them.
Kind regards,
Jérôme
Hi Jerome
Initially, my main problem was that I was unable to install the software on OSX.
However, I gave up when I realised that one really needed access to the server at command line level in order to fully install the software. The not-for-profit I was working with do not have their own server, only a shared hosting account, and we wouldn't have full access to the server, therefore I couldn't with any confidence continue.
We would like to use your software, but would only have access to database tools (no problem there) and ftp in order to post files to the server at the webroot level. If there is some way we can use your software under those conditions, please let me know.
Hi Michaël,
We understand your concerns and why you finally gave up.
Indeed, not much you can do and we can do here if you do not have access to the environments (and the COTS needed to run our OCS e.g. weblogic, Tomcat, Oracle) and have admin rights on them.
In this context and in case the not-for-profit are interested in running a European Citizens' Initiative, we can set it up for you in our DataCenter. This is all for free.
Jérôme
Hi Jerome
I'd like to pass on your offer to the not-for-profit. Can you give me the contact details of the person they should approach?
Best,
Hi Michaël,
