The Public Sector Tech Watch (PSTW) Observatory has officially launched the 2025 edition of the Best Cases Award, an opportunity for public administrations across Europe to gain recognition for their innovative use of emerging technologies. The award aims to highlight digital solutions that demonstrate how advanced technologies can improve government operations and public service delivery.

First launched in 2024, the Best Cases Award seeks to identify outstanding examples of how technologies like Generative Artificial Intelligence, Blockchain, Digital Twins, and Quantum Computing are being adopted by public sector entities. The focus is on real-world implementations that make a measurable impact on services to citizens, businesses, and other government bodies.

Why should I submit my case?

Submitting a case offers a great opportunity for visibility and recognition. Selected solutions will be featured in the PSTW cases viewer, providing valuable exposure to a wider European audience. The Awardees will be celebrated during an official Award Ceremony hosted by the European Commission at the SEMIC 2025 Conference, and be further promoted through a professional video showcasing the winning solutions.

Is my case eligible for submission?

To be eligible, submitted cases must be implemented in a European country and developed by a public administration – whether at the national, regional, or local level. Additionally, submissions must be beyond the conceptual stage, meaning the project should be at least in development or pilot phase. Finally, participants must be registered users of the Interoperable Europe Portal. This is important as only registered users will be able to use the registration form for case submissions.

What are the evaluation criteria?

The evaluation process will consider a number of factors. These include the extent to which the case creates public value and adopts innovative technology, the degree of openness and transparency introduced, the user-centric nature of the solution and the level of stakeholder engagement involved, as well as the scalability and reusability of the technology. Judges will also look at the originality and technological strength of the solutions presented.

Case submission deadline and Awarding Ceremony

The deadline to submit entries is 31 August 2025, and the winners will be announced at the SEMIC 2025 Conference, taking place in Copenhagen, Denmark on 25-26 November 2025.
