EuroHPC Initiative - Integration of Quantum Computers into Supercomputers: The case of France

How is high-performance computing helping Europe tackle its biggest challenges – and what’s the difference between supercomputing and quantum computing?  

In our upcoming iTalks on Government Innovation, we will take a closer look at the European High Performance Computing Joint Undertaking (EuroHPC JU) with insights from GENCI, France’s national agency for high-performance computing. The EuroHPC JU brings together the European Union and participating countries to coordinate their efforts and pool their resources to make Europe a world leader in supercomputing. This boosts Europe's scientific excellence and industrial strength, support the digital transformation of its economy while ensuring its technological sovereignty.   

Join us on 28th April 2025, 12:30-13:30 on Webex as Oscar Diez (Head of Sector of for Quantum Computing, DG CNECT.C.2) and Sabine Mehr (Chief Quantum Projects Officer at GENCI) introduce the world of supercomputing and quantum computing – and explore how these technologies are driving Europe’s digital future.  

Oscar Diez will present the EuroHPC initiative and explains its strategic role in building Europe’s high-performance computing ecosystem. 
Sabine Mehr will highlight the case of France, offering practical insights into how national efforts are advancing supercomputing and quantum technologies on the ground.
