Government budgets up to EUR 15 million in funding per year

Austria is inviting innovators to apply for funds in this year’s second round of the AT:net programme. The fund has a yearly budget of EUR 15 million to help start-up digital services for business and consumers, as well as eGovernment, eHealth, eLearning and eInclusion projects.

The AT:net fund is open to all projects that deal with making services digital, explains the platform Digital Austria (Digitales Österreich). The platform is part of Austria’s coordination and strategy committee of the Federal Government for eGovernment. The funding program is managed by the Austrian Research Promotion Agency (FFG).

This year’s second round (of three) was announced in early May by Sonja Steßl, who until 17 May was Austria’s State Secretary for digital affairs. At a press conference, Steßl presented the results of the first round, in which EUR 3.6 million was awarded to 31 projects, selected from 50 proposals. Of these 31 projects, 17 were proposed by small and medium-sized companies. At least 35 per cent of the funds are earmarked for SMEs.

Details on the AT:net funding possibilities and rules for submitting projects can be found at http://www.ffg.at/atnet (FFG).
