ROWANet is a regional backbone telecommunications network designed primarily for the needs of public administration. The aim of this project is to build backbone optical routes between all major towns in the region using public, private and European financial funds. In its existing form this network is based on CWDM technologies, it should create a suitable environment for new public administration services for citizens of the region and last, but not least it should support the telecommunications market of the region by bringing providers of telecommunications services to spheres that have so far been commercially uninteresting.
