GET SDI Portal is an Open Source GeoPortal, available under GPL v3, developed by Geospatial Enabling Technologies Ltd. GET SDI Portal constitutes a 'ready to deploy' online portal, facilitating the geoportal development in a local or regional spatial data infrastructure (SDI). 

Description

GET SDI Portal is a free and open source project that has been developed by Geospatial Enabling Technologies Ltd[1]. to support the implementation of the Directive. Initially designed to act as an SDI client for INSPIRE Discovery and View Services, has now evolved to a comprehensive platform, supporting the operation of Municipal and Thematic INSPIRE SDIs in Greece and abroad. The software has been accepted in JoinUP and is already part of the Reusable INSPIRE Reference Platform (ARE³NA).

INSPIRE has matured during the last seven years. The preparation and publication of legislation and specifications are (almost) complete and there is a huge opportunity to develop e-services delivering added value to governments and citizens. Looking back, the principles that have been governing INSPIRE evolvement are still the same; among them geographic information should be a) readily and transparently available and b) easily discoverable, facilitating usage within a certain domain.

GET SDI Portal has been developed to address the need for access to data and metadata in an intuitive and transparent way, exploiting the benefits that adopting standards offer. What started as a project’s implementation has been transformed into a complete and integrated FOSS4G tool.

The software is modular and extensible, addressing the limited availability (when com) of ready to use open source geoportal software. It supports ISO/OGC standards including WMS, WMTS, WFS/WFS-T, CSW, WMC, KML, Atom and provides ‘ready and easy to deploy’ features. GET SDI Portal is based on other FOSS, namely Openlayers, ExtJS, GeoExt και Proj4js and it is available under the terms of GNU General Public License Version 3.
