In its seventh edition, the SEMIC conference welcomed over 200 participants from 35 countries, which came with the purpose of increasing interoperability and improving information exchange and sharing at regional, national and European levels. The event was also followed via web streaming by over 800 people from all over the world. The conference was a trending topic on Twitter in Malta and Belgium.

The theme of the 7th SEMIC Conference was Data and Information Management. In this topic, there are several ISA² Programme Actions supporting specifications for open data, base registries, service catalogues, geospatial information, data standardisation for efficient reporting and the use of data for policy-making.
