First conference announced for 3 March

The European Parliament and the Council of Europe approved the ISA² programme on 25 November. With a focus on businesses and citizens, the EUR 131 million programme builds on the actions and activities of the current ISA programme, placing an emphasis on the Digital Single Market Strategy and on increasing ties with related EC initiatives.

ISA² will also promote the use and maintenance of four policies:

  • the European Interoperability Strategy (EIS);
  • the European Interoperability Framework (EIF);
  • the European Interoperability Reference Architecture (EIRA); and
  • the European Interoperability Cartography (EICart).

A first conference ‘From ISA to ISA² — new challenges and opportunities' is planned for 3 March. The provision programme includes testimonials from Member States and businesses, including from outside Europe, demonstrating concrete interoperability solutions that implement digital public services. Other sessions will be dedicated to the priority areas of the new ISA² programme. The conference will be opened by Andrus Ansip, Vice-President of the European Commission, responsible for the Digital Single Market strategy. Registration for the conference will be opened on 11 January.

The direct beneficiaries of ISA² are public administrations across the European Union. ISA² solutions can help them to deliver interoperable eGovernment services. The programme aims to help achieve “seamless electronic cross-border or cross-sector interaction between public administrations, businesses and citizens”, the ISA website explains.
