FIWARE revamps the Context Broker

FIWARE has taken over the implementation of the NGSI-LD API

Published on: 08/02/2024 Last update: 11/03/2024 News
ETSI created in Jan 2017 an Industry Specification Group (ISG CIM) for defining a Context Information Management API. The NGSI v2 defined by FIWARE provided the basis for the NGSI-LD specs published by ETSI (October 2019). NGSI-LD is a simple but powerful REST API for getting access to context data in right-time. FIWARE community provides several open source implementations of ETSI NGSI-LD, called Context Broker. One of this implementations, Orion Context Broker-LD, has become the CEF Building Block recommended to public and private sector for publication of right-time context data and useful for publication of Open Data in the European Data Portal.

Hello

To be fair, there exist other implementations of the NGSI-LD which are part of the FIWARE catalog and that should be appear here as Orion does. These solutions are:

These 3 brokers implementations are developped by different organisations  and are all hosted as part of the FIWARE catalog

The NGSI-LD specification is what should be the CEF Buidling blocks as it is the one allowing interoperability.

Listed brokers are different implementations compliant with that specification.

Indeed, there are various implementations of the Context Broker in FIWARE community. It is clearly stated that the Orion-LD is one of them, and the one that is considered a CEF Building Block. Thanks for noting anyway the reference to the other possible implementations.
