Key takeaways

The webinar opened with the greetings from the Portal Team, who presented the agenda and highlighted that the session was also valuable to both experienced and new Owners and Facilitators on the platform, as well as to regular users looking to deepen their Portal knowledge.

Highlights of the session included:

  • An overview of the Portal structure, its content hierarchy, and the different roles available on the Portal. (Detailed information on the different roles and their permissions are available in the Portal’s User Reference Guide.)
  • The distinction between the role of Owner and Facilitator.
  • A presentation of the three pillars for creating meaningful content: quality, attractiveness, selection & curation. Specific mention was made to the Portal’s Contribution Rules which set the basis for all content published on the Portal and to which all content must comply with.
  • A deep dive into the responsibilities of Owners and Facilitators in ensuring that their spaces are effectively managed, promoting users’ engagement and effectively moderating their content and members.

Live demo

The Portal Team did a two-part demo to provide practical examples and a live walk-through on space management and special functionalities available to Owners and Facilitators.

The first part of the demo provided a practical walkthrough on how to manage spaces and users within the Portal. It showcased the invitation of members to Collections and Solutions, assigning and changing user roles, customising landing pages and improving content searchability through the topic selection.

The second part of the demo introduced other Portal features such as how to make a Collection and Solution more engaging, how to access and navigate the revision section, how to add a Code of Conduct, and how to send targeted announcements to Collection members. The session also highlighted the latest Portal updates, with a focus on improvements designed to support Owners and Facilitators.
