EC.DIGIT implements midPoint

IAM

The Corporate User provisioning Database (CUD) was once created to support the relatively small IAM-House with some applications and some thousands of users. It wasn't supposed to support the big building IAM is today, supporting hunderds of applications and millions of users.

The first records in the CUD are there since 20/3/1990....   Over almost 30 years the service was stable although the complexity increased and the architecture was pushed to its limits. This complexity and deprecated architecture don't allow an evolution to a modern IAM-Service.

Over 2018, the IAM-service (DIGIT.D.3.DISS) compared different solutions. midPoint seemed to be able to fullfill our requirements. We did a proof of concept to confirm....

In 2019, DIGIT implements midPoint for user provisioning. As from 2020 it will become a corner stone of EU Access. We are already evaluating potential synergies within EC but also with other institutions.

MidPoint will inherently contribute to the European Commission Digital Strategy:

  • Open-source (Version 4.0 will be under EUPL-license !)
  • Strengthen cybersecurity (Evaluation in context of EU-FOSSA2 started on 5/3 !)
  • Modernize public administrations, increase efficiency and effectiveness.

In March 2019, we organize a training on midPoint attended by ESTAT, EEAS, EC.HR and of course EC.DIGIT.
