Published on: 21/06/2021 Event Archived

OSOR is delighted to invite you to its third webinar of the series on public administrations' journey towards the adoption of and contribution to open source solutions. This webinar will focus on public administrations adapting to open source software (OSS) development culture.

Let’s get together on 29 June to follow two presentations from the City of Paris and the Norwegian Digitalisation Agency. Our guest speakers will share insights and experiences on the adaptation of their organisation to OSS development culture, good practices to ensure the efficient development and maintenance of open source solutions, practical tips to foster collaboration with other public administrations and open source communities, as well as potential challenges (e.g., solution design not compliant with OSS principles, little collaboration with open source communities, lack of OSS practices formalised in the governance) and solutions to overcome them.

Stig B. Dormaenen

Stig B. Dørmænen is working as a senior advisor in the Norwegian Digitalisation Agency (DigDir). He is responsible for the Norwegian National Data Catalog (data.norge.no). Stig has been an open source enthusiast for many years, and is now part of the drive towards making public agencies releasing software under an open license. Stig will present the OSS development culture at Norwegian Digitalisation Agency. The Agency is a long-time contributor and user of open source solutions. Stig will share insights and practical tips on the institutionalisation of OSS development culture, the challenges that may arise along the way and how to overcome them.

Philippe Bareille is an Open Source Officer at the City of Paris. He has a 10-year experience as a Java software engineer and as an Open Source enthusiast, he spreads the word of FLOSS in the public sector, where public money should fund public code. As a Paris signature platform Lutece's advocate, he is in charge of external relationships regarding the Lutece software. You can find him at open source conferences as well as Parisian concert venues taking photographs. During the webinar, Philippe will talk about the OSS development culture at the City of Paris, the outreach of the Lutece community and its positioning within the open source ecosystem, as well as good practices regarding software development stemming from the long-standing Lutece project.
