On 20 May 2021, OpenForum Europe (OFE) will be hosting an online event on the impact of open source on the European economy. A panel discussion will be held to present the findings of OFE's and Fraunhofer ISI's Open Source Impact Study that was carried out for the European Commission.

OpenForum Europe (OFE) is a not-for-profit organisation promoting openness in IT for policy makers and communities across Europe. In 2021, OFE launched the Open Source Policy Series, a collection of events offering deep dives into open source software, open technologies and the most pressing digital policy challenges facing Europe.
Between 17:00 and 18:30 CET on 20 May, OFE will be presenting the findings of their Open Source Impact Study that was co-authored by the Fraunhofer Institute for Systems and Innovation Research (ISI) for the European Commission. Three panellists have been confirmed thus far: Knut Blind (Fraunhofer ISI), Raegan MacDonald (Mozilla) and Pia Karger (Feder Ministry of the Interior, Building and Community, Germany). Building upon the study’s findings, they will discuss the potential innovative and competitive policies that could further support digital openness in Europe and its ICT landscape.
