Pilot 1 of the GovTech4all project, devoted to ‘Secure information in cross-border data spaces’, had its first technical control meeting on November 4th and 5th 2024 in Athens, Greece.
This session was held at the headquarters of the GovTech4All partner GRNET (Greek National Infrastructures for Research and Technology) and counted on the participation of Pilot 1 leader LANTIK (Technology and Innovation Society of the Provincial Council of Bizkaia) and of DINUM (Direction Interministérielle du Numérique of the French Government), who is also involved in this pilot.
It was the first of the pilot’s technical control meetings, which bring together all team members involved for an onsite working session, aimed at assessing the current status and quality of implementation at various stages and identifying any necessary adjustments to achieve its goals. Moreover, the partners host online working sessions on a weekly basis.
What was discussed during the meetings?
The first day was devoted to reviewing the progress of Pilot 1 so far and completing specific items for its development, integration, and demonstration. The partners closely analysed the pilot’s use cases, examining their functionality and the effective use of project outcomes, and exploring potential methods for demonstrating them. As a result, they gained a deeper understanding of their architectural requirements and associated datasets.
On the second day, discussions shifted towards dissemination and exploitation of the pilot, exploring strategies for enhancing user engagement, fostering collaboration with similar projects, as well as organising demo days and a concluding event. The sustainability strategy, vital for creating a lasting impact beyond the project, was also covered. The partnership is building its solutions based on open-source libraries and reusable Technology Frameworks (Security/Data), enabling further opportunities for scaling up.
Moreover, the partners planned the next steps in detail, organising all the work to be undertaken, including the planning and structure of the related project deliverables.

Three pilots to drive digital innovation in the public sector
GovTech4All is a project funded by the Digital Europe Programme to foster a cohesive GovTech ecosystem across multiple countries. Work Package 2, named ‘Use case deployment and project pilots’ and led by LANTIK, relies on the implementation of cutting-edge solutions for the public sector, providing concrete evidence of their transformative impact through three digital innovation pilots.
The first one of these pilots, devoted to ‘Secure Information in Cross-Border Data Spaces’, is led by LANTIK too and counts on the participation of GRNET and DINUM. Pilot 1 tackles the technical challenges public sector organisations face that require cross-border coordination to provide high-quality services to citizens. These organisations need robust mechanisms for securely collecting and sharing sensitive personal information while ensuring the protection of citizens' privacy.
To follow are Pilot 2 ‘Helping EU citizens obtain social benefits with personal regulation assistants’ and Pilot 3 ‘Startup challenge for innovative procurement’, led by DIGICAMPUS and Globe, respectively.
Overall, the three pilots will serve to establish the building blocks for a vivid GovTech ecosystem and lay the ground towards scaling up the digital innovation pilots, incorporating reuse for maximum impact.
