You can find below the post event report that documents the outcomes of the Challenge Definition Workshop held on January 31st, 2024, as part of the GovTech Connect project. 

This initiative includes a series of boot camps for startups aimed at identifying innovative solutions for challenges across European regions related to digital infrastructure, net-zero health technology, and smart cities. This workshop, themed "Reimagining Cities: Pioneering Smart Solutions for a Sustainable Future," focused on Western and Eastern Europe and aimed to generate concrete challenge statements for smart city development that innovative startups could address. The workshop gathered over 15 participants, including government organization members, GovTech labs, and private sector organizations. It emphasized the importance of smart infrastructure as essential for sustainable urban development and highlighted the need for resilient and adaptable infrastructure capable of integrating innovative technologies.

Key themes of discussion included the prioritization of smart infrastructure, cross-border innovation and collaboration, and ethical considerations regarding the use of emerging technologies in smart cities. The workshop formulated challenge statements in areas such as smart energy, smart mobility, smart wellbeing, smart engagement, and a wildcard category focusing on fostering smart cities and promoting sustainable public services.

Following the workshop, theopen call for the 2024 Boot camps was launched, inviting companies to apply and participate in addressing the identified challenge areas.
