The National Archives of Hungary (NAH) is the central repository of records: of the national past, of former government institutions, and of prominent families. The NAH preserves these historic sources, but also provides access to records to scientific researchers and the general public. Its website gives a description of its holdings, its publications, the conditions and regulations of access to the archives and gives access to an on-line database. Also, on the basis of the Act 10/2002 (IV.13.) of the Ministry of Cultural Heritage, the National Archives of Hungary developed the e-Archivum system.

Main results, benefits and impacts

Every public archive in Hungary receives the e-Archivum software free of charge, but each institution has to keep the system in operation individually. Extensive archival material, covering the period since 1414, well organized and searchable.
