Description: The present study investigates big data and data analytics initiatives launched by public authorities in Europe in order to provide insights. First, the study analyses the potential or added value of big data analytics to help public administrations at all levels of government and in different domains to reach their goals. Secondly, it captures valuable lessons learnt and best practices of mature public organisations to inspire peers and help them along the journey to use big data analytics and become more insight driven.
