How should public institutions deal with very short deadlines and fast evolving requirements? How could IT systems speed up the nation’s response against Covid-19, and avoid becoming a roadblock? Standardisation and software reuse have contributed to Belgium’s response to the pandemic. How exactly?
A webinar on software reuse was organised on October 21st 2021 by the Belgian social security institutions. Business and technical experts answered questions on strategic, organisational and IT matters. How did software reuse help meeting complex and rapidly changing needs? Did software reuse lead to a shorter time-to-market? How can reuse be systematically integrated into software development projects?
All of these questions were addressed during the webinar by specialists from the national health authority Sciensano, the National Social Security Office and the Belgian social security institutions’ common ICT organisation Smals.
Topics & speakers included:
- Intro – Karel Van Eeckhoutte, Division Manager, Head of ReUse Competency Center
- Rapid response to Covid-19 (Dutch) – Dieter Van Cauteren, Epidemiologist at Sciensano
- Reuse key to shorter time-to-market (French) – Nicolas Rogge, Healthcare Division Manager at Smals
