Ms Gaffey is the Director‑General for Digital Services (DG DIGIT). In 2024 she was appointed the first Interoperability Coordinator for the Commission. She leads the Commission's efforts to ensure that digital public services across the EU can seamlessly interact and exchange data across administration levels, sectors and borders. From 2019 to 2022 she was Chair of the independent Regulatory Scrutiny Board. She was also Director of the Paymaster’s Office of the Commission from 2016 to 2019 and before that was Director of Resources in the Directorate‑General for Regional and Urban Policy in July 2015. Veronica Gaffey worked in the area of evaluation for 23 years of her career.
