New initiative launched: I3 Support Facility to bolster interregional innovation investments
more news
The European Innovation Council and SMEs Executive Agency (EISMEA) has launched the I3 Support Facility, a pioneering initiative aimed at strengthening interregional innovation investments and environments within smart specialisation areas. This programme seeks to drive economic growth by fostering collaboration across regions, accelerating innovation, and supporting public administrations and the GovTech sector.
The I3 Support Facility's central feature, the Capacity Building Hub, aims to accelerate the adoption of the I3 Instrument and maximise the benefits of EU funding. The Hub fosters collaboration, consortia building, and knowledge sharing, aligning with EU and regional priorities to boost public sector capacity in interregional investments. It provides stakeholders with tools such as technical advice, a matchmaking platform, workshops, and training to enhance project applications and share best practices.
The I3 Observatory will monitor project outcomes and trends, contributing insights to regional and European innovation environments. Additionally, the Policy Lab supports regional policymakers in addressing challenges in less economically and technologically developed areas and outermost regions, enhancing institutional capacities, and developing effective policies to attract talent and investment. Networking and engagement are further promoted through events like webinars, workshops, and the Annual I3 Forum.
