The EuroHPC Joint Undertaking has announced in its press release the creation of six new AI Factories across Europe, thus expanding its efforts to enhance artificial intelligence innovation. These facilities will be established in Austria, Bulgaria, France, Germany, Poland and Slovenia thanks to both national and EU investments. The creation of new AI Factories is part of the Invest AI programme, presented by President von der Leyen at the AI Action Summit in Paris to support the Commission’s strategy for AI.
What are AI Factories?
AI Factories are specialised hubs designed to accelerate innovation by providing advanced computing resources. They play a crucial role in achieving the EU AI strategy objectives by providing dedicated support to startups, SMEs and researchers, helping to boost their growth and competitiveness.
In addition to AI Factories, large-scale AI Gigafactories will also be deployed to test and train next generation AI models. These advancements will contribute to increase Europe’s competitiveness and to promote the creation of AI solutions.
