The Sharing and Reuse Framework for IT Solutions (SRF) implements the following EIF recommendations as explained below:

  • Recommendation 3 | Openness

    The Sharing and Reuse Framework strongly recommends and supports the use of open source software when developing IT solutions. 

  • Recommendation 6 | Reusability

    The Sharing and Reuse Framework is drawn together for the purpose of encouraging public administrations to share and reuse IT solutions in an open and transparent way. 

  • Recommendation 7 | Reusability

    This Sharing and Reuse Framework encourages checking the reusability of already existing solutions before developing new ones. 

  • Recommendation 8 | Technological neutrality and data portability

    The Sharing and Reuse Framework encourages the use of open source software, which is not proprietary. 

  • Recommendation 16 | Multilingualism

    The Sharing and Reuse Framework recommends taking into account the multilingual IT environment when developing IT solutions. 

  • Recommendation 21 | Interoperability governance

    The Sharing and Reuse Framework recommends the use of Common Standards and encourages creation of a list of such existing specifications and encourages the provision of information in multiple languages.

    The Sharing and Reuse Framework recommends public administrations to consult the catalogue of ICT Standards for Public Procurement and to also compile their own catalogues when using common standards.

    The Sharing and Reuse Framework recommends the setting of requirements supporting common business processes within organisations.

    The Sharing and Reuse Framework recommends the adoption of common IT governance and preparation of collaborative agreements.
