We would like to inform you about the recent update of the DCAT Application Profile for data portals in Europe (DCAT-AP). This updated version addresses the many requests to the DCAT-AP version, which were submitted to the ISA2 Programme of the European Commission in github (https://github.com/SEMICeu/DCAT-AP/issues).
The draft version of the DCAT-AP release 2.1.0 is available for public review as from today 18th of October until 1st of November 2021.
What’s new?
- Improved UML diagram in accordance with the agreed profile reading
- Improved coherency between the UML diagram and the specification text
- A usage guide on the relationships between Dataset, Distribution and Data Service; and the consequences of this clarification on the model
- Various editorial fixes
- Consolidation of the SHACL shapes
There are still some topics open that could be addressed by this release. During the kickoff webinar of the public review that took place the 15th of September these have been discussed to validate if these proposals have community support.

All comments received by the 15th of November will be evaluated. Once all review comments have been resolved, we may refer to the DCAT-AP Working Group again to discuss the public review.
Unless the comments prevent the release, the final version of the new release of DCAT-AP (version 2.1.0) will be published in December 2021.
