Geographic Name as a class

Sonya Abbas wrote: "I have just a question about how the geographicName property can be compliant with INSPIRE geographicalName theme. Is it possible to have it as a class. This class can be either defined by adding many properties as nameStatus, nativeness … etc or defined as same as of GeographicalName class from expected INSPIRE Ontology for example?

Can the WG advise on this?

See also Comment ISO 23: "Definitions for Geographic Names should be compliant with COMMISSION REGULATION (EU) No 1089/2010 (see requirement no 1). These definitions are compliant with those published by the United Nations Group of Experts on Geographical Names (UNGEGN). GeographicalName Definition: "Proper noun applied to a real world entity". Quoting from ISO 19112 "a geographic name is a spatial reference in the form of a label or code that identifies a location" is not sufficient."
