Earlier this week the new eLearning course “Enabling the Twin Digital and Green Transition via Solid and Internet of Things”, offered by the Interoperable Europe Academy, was made publicly available. This eLearning will equip participants with a comprehensive understanding of Solid, covering its decentralized architecture, personal data management features, and empowering individuals with control over their data.

Do you know Solid already?

Solid is an innovative technology that aims to empower individuals with control over their personal data. It provides a decentralized and secure platform for storing and managing personal data, allowing users to decide how their information is shared and accessed.

Who is this eLearning aimed at?

The eLearning course caters to professionals in the public sector, including:

  • Solid practitioners or computer science students who are interested in expanding their knowledge of Solid.
  • Policy makers and administration officials who want to learn about unlocking the value of personal data for societal, environmental and economic benefit.

This training provides a context on the use and sharing of citizen generated data streams, how it can impact public administrations’ mandate and how Solid technology can be demonstrated with a custom developed proof of concept.

What are the key learning outputs?

After this course you should be able to understand:

  • how citizen generated data streams can be leveraged in public context;
  • what’s in it for the citizen;
  • how the challenge of protecting participating EU citizens' privacy and right to consent can be tackled;
  • how SEMIC tackles semantic interoperability across the industrial sector and how it is applied to a proof-of-concept;
  • the technology behind the proof-of-concept enabling secure and transparent data sharing.
