An new open community has built around the reuse of SEMIC.EU technology on the national and regional levels.
The Semantic Interoperability Centre Europe pursues a federated approach to semantic interoperability in Europe. Now, a community has been established which brings together partner initiatives from a number of EU Member States and European regions that aim to implement platforms and repositories equivalent to the European Centre at their respective levels of administration.
In a move to seize all collaborative opportunities which IDABC initiatives offer, the community has manifested on ePractice.eu, its intended working space.
The Netherlands, France, Spain, Turkey, Italy (CSI Piemonte) and the German Federal Police are founding members of the community. More are expected to follow suit soon. The community invites other interested parties to join for mutual benefit.
Interoperable repositories are a pivotal step towards greater integration and interaction on the various level of administration in Europe.
In its primary stages, the community's work will focus on:
the collection of requirements for national/regional reuse (wishlist)
the exchange of ideas for adaptation to the needs at these levels
opportunities of exchange between the respective new platforms and repositories
It is one of the community's principles that all members, regardless of their administrative scope, interact on a level playing field.
