On 3 July 2015, the DCAT Application Profile for data portals in Europe (DCAT-AP) has entered its public review period. The ISA Programme of European Commission is inviting experts to participate in a public review of the proposed revision of the DCAT-AP until 30 August 2015. The draft revision can be downloaded from https://joinup.ec.europa.eu/release/dcat-application-profile-data-portals-europe-revision
The DCAT Application profile for data portals in Europe (DCAT-AP) is a specification based on the Data Catalogue vocabulary (DCAT) of W3C, which is an RDF vocabulary designed to facilitate interoperability between data catalogues published on the Web. In February 2015, the ISA Programme of the European Commission has started an activity to revise the DCAT-AP, based on experience gained since its development in 2013.
How can you participate in the review?
The public review period is open until 30 August 2015. The general public is invited to:
- Download the Final Draft of DCAT Application Profile from the Joinup platform; and
- submit feedback by sending comments and suggestions to dcat_application_profile@joinup.ec.europa.eu.
What happens with your feedback?
- All comments will be registered in an issues list that will be discussed by the DCAT-AP Revision Working Group at the beginning of September.
- Resolutions of those issues will be shared on Joinup, and will lead to a final version of the specification that will be submitted to the European Commission for endorsement by the EU Member States.
- Final publication of the revised Application Profile is foreseen for September 2015.
