As mentioned in prior webinars and communications, as part of the revision process of the Core Vocabularies led by the SEMIC Action, we are delighted to inform you that a new proposition for each Core Vocabulary is available for your review.

Moreover, we have the pleasure to invite you to a dedicated webinar taking place on the 23/04/2021 from 10:00 to 12:00 AM (CET). To participate and access the connection details, please fill in this registration form.

The following Core Vocabularies are concerned by this revision process and webinar:

As you probably already know, the Core Criterion and Core Evidence Vocabulary is the object of a separate revision process for which you can also contribute from here.

Context

The Core Vocabularies capture the fundamental characteristics of data entities to ensure a minimum level of harmonisation across domains. Examples of such characteristics are:

Previous release

New release

Person

The name(s), the date and place of birth, the identifier of a person.

CPV 1.0.0

CPV 2.0.0

Business

The legal name, address, legal identifier, company type, and activities of a legal entity.

CBV 1.0.0

CBV 2.0.0

Location

The different ways of describing a location, e.g. with an address, a geographic name, or a geometry, in alignment with INSPIRE and GeoDCAT-AP.

CLV 1.0.0

CLV 2.0.0

Public Org

The public services, members of staff, relevant legislation, policies and jurisdictional coverage of a public organisation.

CPOV 1.0.0

CPOV 2.0.0

These new propositions are major revisions of the initial version of the Core Vocabularies. While the Core Person, Business and Location Vocabularies were described in a single specification, the new propositions describe each model separately. The new versions also harmonise the usages of similar entities between the models.

With this regard, we would like to (1) present the new versions and the changes proposed, (2) discuss your potential comments and give you the opportunity to raise additional issues.

Proposed planning and more details

The public review period is now open until April 21st. We encourage you to consult these new propositions and provide us with your feedback and questions by creating issues on GitHub. In accordance with our consensus-based approach, your points will be discussed during the webinar.

Please note that this first webinar is one of the many upcoming webinars that will be organised by the SEMIC Action. A second Core Vocabularies webinar will also take place in the second half of May to discuss and agree on any observations that may not have been covered during the first webinar. Finally, please also note that a second webinar about CCCEV will also be held in between on April 27th (11:00-13:00 CET).

The slides of the webinar are available from here.
