Jeanne Holm (“Data.gov evangelist” at U.S. General Services Administration), will give a keynote presentation at the Semantic Interoperability Conference 2012 (SEMIC 2012) in Brussels on 18 June 2012. Her talk will focus on semantic technologies and open data. Jeanne will also be in Brussels to participate in the “Using open data” workshop on 19 and 20 June which is part of the CROSSOVER project.

Jeanne Holm - Bio

According to her bio on LinkedIn, Jeanne Holm is Chief Knowledge Architect at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory. She chairs NASA's Knowledge Management Team. Her team’s solutions help people manage space missions, learn virtually, and share lessons learned by transforming NASA into a learning organization. She was the manager for the award-winning NASA public (www.nasa.gov) and internal (InsideNASA) portals. She supports several DoD (Department of Defence) organizations in multi-generational learning, utilizing social media, creating collaborative structures, and identifying emergent technologies.

Besides that, Jeanne Holm is co-chair of the W3C eGovernment Interest Group, exploring how to improve access to government through better use of the Web and achieve better government transparency using open web standards at any government level.

SEMIC 2012

On 18 June 2012, the Semantic Interoperability Conference 2012 (SEMIC 2012) takes place at the Madou Plaza Tower in Brussels. SEMIC 2012 offers a unique opportunity to explore and discuss how semantic interoperability solutions are being embraced by e-Government initiatives. The main topics of interest include:

  • The practical use of semantic technologies such as RDF, OWL and SPARQL.
  • The work of standardisation organisations in the field of semantic technologies.
  • The business case for ICT projects to consider the use of semantic technologies.
