For the past decade, the Semantic Interoperability Community (SEMIC) action pursued the objective of making possible seamless and high-quality data transmissions between European public administrations, via the promotion of interoperability solutions as a fundamental enabler of such exchanges. The ongoing COVID19 crisis shed a light on both the importance of this objective but as well the considerable gaps that still exist in effectively managing data and ensuring its transmission.

Indeed, data quality and interoperability contribute in making the right information available to the right decision-makers and allows them to take timely decisions of vital importance for the general public. The crisis also confirmed the necessity and urgency of building a strong data culture, as obstacles such as lack of digital skills, absence of interoperability and silos culture are still hampering the ongoing efforts for better data management in the public administration landscape.

To assess in more in details where we stand and what practices exist in this area, we are pleased to invite you on 26 June at 12.00 CEST (GMT+2) to the webinar Public Data Analytics: The New Essential Service - Lessons from the Frontline. During this event will be presented the results of the Data Analytics for Member States and Citizens study, conducted by the Lisbon Council and Deloitte for DG DIGIT. Furthermore, the presentations will feature the lessons learned from 15 cutting edge global cases, as listed below.

15 topics covered

Finally, the proposed agenda will include seasoned speakers and professionals, which will share valuable insights, such as:

  • Emanuele Baldacci, Director of Digital Services, DG DIGIT – keynote speaker, will present plans and priorities of the European Commission;
  • Mike Bracken, Senior Fellow, the Lisbon Council; former chief data officer, Cabinet Office, Her Majesty’s Government, United Kingdom – will outline the lessons learned for data-driven government based on the technology cases;
