On February 21, the Interoperable Europe Portal Team hosted the Webinar “A users’ journey through the Portal”. The webinar guided users through the platform’s key spaces and to underline their connection with the Interoperable Europe Act. The objective of the Webinar was also to equip users with the tools to navigate the Portal’s key spaces and show them how to elevate their overall experience.

The agenda of the webinar was as follows:

  • Opening & introduction
  • The Portal & the Interoperable Europe Act
    • Policy space
    • Governance Board
    • Solutions page
    • Assessment guidelines & tools
    • Interoperable Europe Monitoring
    • Interoperable Europe Academy
  • Feedback session

The webinar opened with a warm welcome from Bernard Claes, the Business Manager of the Interoperable Europe Portal, who presented the objectives of the webinar and did an introduction on the Interoperable Europe Act, and how the Portal is evolving to be in line with it. Then the Interoperable Europe Portal Team presented the key spaces of the Portal, offering an engaging walkthrough that served as a practical guide to help users make the most of the Platform’s functionalities.

The webinar followed the narrative of the Interoperable Europe Act, how it sets requirements for the Portal and how the Portal’s spaces evolve to be in line with it. So through this webinar a user’s walkthrough was shared, to simulate a user’s journey on the Portal, to showcase an end-to-end user experience:

  • The user journey starts with the policy framework set by the Act, for a coordinated cross-border interoperability.
  • The Act is what drives policy development and the creation of the Governance Board, which provides in transparency all Governance related documents and information.
  • The Board is responsible for setting priorities and defining an annual roadmap, as well as for supporting the catalogue of shared solutions. This catalogue, offers to users a variety of solutions,  available to everyone.
  • To ensure transparency, the Act requires the publication of assessments for any initiative impacting cross-border interoperability. Users can access published reports and engage with others, sharing experiences.
  • Since effective governance relies on strong policy indicators, country specific monitoring is already in place, with a new monitoring mechanism under preparation and set to be presented to the Board later this year.
  • To provide users with the tools to better understand the concept of interoperability and the related challenges, the European Commission offers a tailored curriculum and e-learning courses, which are available in the Interoperable Europe Academy Space. Experienced users and new interoperability enthusiasts can benefit by the free Academy courses.
  • Concluding the user’s path, the Support Centre offers further services to the users and encourages them to participate in the forum’s discussions to get help and share knowledge.

After finalising the walkthrough part of the webinar, participants were engaged in a Q&A session, which offered the audience a chance to ask questions, share insights and feedback on the Portal.

Below you will find a recap of the main questions asked during the webinar, and the answers that were provided by the Portal team:
