EU Login to require Multifactor Authentication for Portal access

EU Login Multifactor Authentication coming to Portal sign-ins

Published on: 16/06/2025 News

The Interoperable Europe Portal will soon enforce Multifactor Authentication (MFA) for all user sign-ins via EU Login. This mandatory security enhancement will take effect at the beginning of July 2025, aiming to strengthen account protection and data security.

Currently, Portal sign-ins require only your EU Login email/username and password. With MFA, you will also confirm your identity through a second authentication step using your EU Login mobile app or a Trusted Platform Module (TPM).

What you need to do

  1. Download and activate the EU Login mobile app (available on Android and iOS) or configure your TPM.
  2. Set up your preferred second authentication method in your EU Login account.
  3. Test your access before the enforcement date to ensure a smooth transition.

If you need help to set this up, visit the EU login help page and consult the EU Login Tutorial.

Note: If you have enabled TPM but might not always have access to the associated device, make sure you also have the EU Login mobile app set up as an alternative.
