In preparation of Open Government Data (OGD) initiatives by public agencies, a stronger focus needs to be put on the internal data monitoring. Agencies have to identify what datasets are available in their organisation and how (based on certain criteria) they can decide, which datasets should be put in an OGD portal or which datasets will not be disclosed.
www.ogdcockpit.eu is a showcase of use of Semantic MediaWiki as a tool for setting up a data catalogue. The tool can be used inside the organisation or publicly, as seen in the city of Bonn: http://ogdcockpit.bonn.de/
In addition to providing an online data catalogue, being set up by different departments inside an organisation, Semantic MediaWiki provides diffferent output formats (e.g. RDF, JSON, XML) making it easy to provide metadata to OGD portals (e. g. based on CKAN).
Semantic MediaWiki is an open source extension to MediaWiki, adding support for storing, querying and exporting structured data inside a wiki - see http://www.semantic-mediawiki.org
OGD Cockpit is in German language.
