ZUgferd and Verapdf (short ZUV) is a open source validator for the european e-invoicing standard ZUGFeRD, also known as Factur-X.

The standard is based on PDF and XML, the validator is based on the open-source PDF validator VeraPDF and the schematron files from AWV (ZUGFeRD 1) and CEN (EN16931 profile). 

For the extraction of the XML from PDF, Mustangproject is used.

It can now attempt to find out which software created a particular invoice and added the possibility to validate a XML file not (yet) embedded in a PDF envelope. It also fixes two important issues, one with files that contained a UTF8 BOM in the XML content and another one where XML could not properly be extracted from certain PDF/A-3 files.
