The new Eurobarometer survey, published on the 13th of February 2025, reveals that more than 60% of Europeans view robots and AI at work positively, with over 70% claiming that these technologies would improve productivity. Most people believe in digital technologies’ contribution to economy and society, as well as to the overall quality of life.
Nevertheless, the need to ensure a careful management of these technologies was highlighted by 84% of the survey’s respondents. This was also mentioned by the Executive Vice-President for Social Rights and Skills, Quality Jobs and Preparedness, Roxana Mînzatu, who highlighted the ongoing efforts to balance AI integration with worker’s protection. These efforts are supported by the strong legal basis provided by the AI Act.
The Eurobarometer’s results encourage the achievement of the key objectives of the EU’s Competitiveness Compass and supports the investments allocated within the European Social Fund Plus, the Recovery and Resilience Facility, and the Digital Europe Programme.
