The “Twin it! 3D for Europe’s culture” campaign has been launched by the European Commission and the 27 EU Ministries of Culture have been invited to participate. This campaign aims to promote the adoption of 3D in the common European data space by raising awareness regarding the opportunities and benefits it can bring and to also assist the EU Member States in increasing their capacity of heritage institutions.

Currently 57 million cultural heritage assets can be accessed through Europeana, out of which only 0.01% is in 3D. For that reason, the 27 Ministries have been asked to select and submit one 3D digitised cultural heritage asset to the common European data space for cultural heritage, deployed by the Europeana initiative. This initiative is expected to enhance innovation and creation in the cultural and creative sectors, as well as in education, tourism and smart cities.

The goal is to present this pan-European 3D collection of emblematic cultural heritage assets in Brussels, during an event that will take place in the spring of 2024.
