The Clinical Data Interchange Standards Consortium (CDISC) has recently launched a call for comments for the Draft version of Define.xml 2.0. Also, a Request for Information (RFI) has been launched to identify potential collaborators for its proposed SHARE Global Metadata Repository.

Define-XML 2.0

Define-XML is a set of metadata vocabularies to describe the structure and content of datasets of clinical research data. The standard is intended to describe the transmission metadata of such datasets, for instance for the application of a medical product. With Define-XML 2.0, the Define-XML standard has been subjected to a major revision.  The call for comments on Define.xml 2.0 runs from 1 September till 1 October 2012.

SHARE Global Metadata Repository

The Shared Health And Clinical Research Electronic Library (SHARE) is designed to more efficiently find, understand and use clinical metadata. It will facilitate access to the existing CDISC standards and any further development on these standards. The purpose is that in time it will store the metadata and value sets (code lists) of all standards managed by CDISC.

The RFI aims on identifying potential collaborators on the Repository and asks respondents to answer some questions to describe their organization, desired role, suggested ideas and potential product solutions to support the initiative. The RFI is open till 20 September 2012.

About CDISC
