BDTI Skills Studio: An introduction to graph analytics

Published on: 02/09/2024 Event

In this workshop, we will introduce key theoretical concepts about graphs, such as vertices, edges, degrees, and centrality. We will illustrate concepts through a use case, using tools currently offered in BTDI.

All the tools used during these workshops are available to EU public administrations to experiment with data for free. Learn how to apply for BDTI here

The use case will explore visitor visa applications for different European Union countries, highlighting the different application and acceptance numbers. Short-stay visas are an important component of border control practices, and their analysis provides some insight into the relationships between different countries.

What you'll get from this workshop:

  • An understanding of Graphs and their use in data analysis
  • An introduction to KNIME Network Mining Extension
  • Key concepts and theories explained via a real-world use case
  • A chance to have your questions answered live by your instructor
  • A list of tools and resources to keep learning

Who should join?

This is a beginner-friendly course for anyone who wants to develop their data analysis fundamentals. It is intended primarily for professionals working in public administration but is open to anyone with a passion for using data for good. No prerequisites are required to attend this workshop.
