This release has significant new features to support full life cycle software delivery around a business process. Most notable is the ability to generate fully functioning end user forms and report interfaces directly from the CAM template structures.
In a nutshell you need the four key components:
1) Data stores and exchange design
2) Models including Dictionaries and Documentation,
3) Middleware Service Bindings, and
4) User Forms and Reports
You can start with a design and models then realize that directly into SQL data stores, and create the matching middleware schema bindings for XML or JSON exchanges. Following that by rapid prototyping of end user forms and reports then realizing those directly into fully functioning forms for your target deployment technology.
CAM combines all this elegantly in one template along with the content and business rules. Allowing designers and developers to work coherently together. This can shave weeks of manual effort off the typical development life cycle and guarantee consistent results.
We have implemented a new license system to open up delivery of innovative new features while providing fine grained control over access and availability. This allows us to partner with businesses to create targetted new capabilities such as the Appian SAIL forms generation.
The release is the first in the Foraker series.
In summary the new CAM Editor V3.2.2 provides the following improved functionality:
o Enhanced SQL Table generation including SQL Server and Oracle database
o New Forms generation with Pencil Mockup forms and reports
o Fully functioning form generation for Appian SAIL user interface language
o Licensing system for specific features and supporting 4 communities
- Business, Personal, Charity and Education licenses
o Two new Export menu options for SQL Tables and Forms
o Enhanced SQL renamer converts existing SQL names to uppercase Camel names
