Description (short summary): Since the beginning of the millennium, ICTs (Information and Communication Technologies: cell phones, mail or websites) have come to play an increasing part in the life of migrants. Like migrant newspapers before them, websites are created by migrants in order to maintain a link between the members of communities who increasingly refer to themselves as ‘diaspora’.
This paper questions the definition of and methods for observing these ‘diasporic websites’ and concludes that they may help develop and strengthen the feeling of a common identity among dispersed communities.
