IOPEU Academy contribution to digital skills in the public sector

Published on: 20/07/2022 News

Nowadays, there are several ways to enhance digitals skills going beyond reading a book or participating in a course. Online education and thus eLearning courses are booming while, at the same time, the demand for digital skills and improving competencies are at the forefront. There are already several related practices to apply such as take free online courses, watch videos, read blogs, teach digital skills to others, practice skills and follow technological trends, just to name a few.

How can the Interoperable Europe Academy contribute?

The Interoperable Europe Academy (IOPEU Academy) is an initiative started in 2019 to adhere to advanced digital skills and to promote interoperability. The IOPEU Academy offers actions to train everyone but is mainly targeted to public sector employees with specialised Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs) that could fit any Learning Management System (LMS). In addition, several actions run in parallel to increase awareness towards interoperability such as events, webinars, collaboration with universities, organisations, public administrations and other relevant actors that have an active role in digital transformation and interoperability.

The objective of the IOPEU Academy is to improve the level of digital skills in the public sector by offering learning resources through a central educational platform open 24/7 -- the EU Academy -- and to further facilitate educational capacities for the former ISA², CEF as well as the current Interoperable Europe connecting the dots for the understanding and implementation of the European Interoperability Framework (EIF) and its evolution.

What are the benefits?

The IOPEU Academy is a key element for developing effective eGovernment services because it can  equip employees of public administrations with the necessary knowledge and skills to deliver faster and more efficient public services at a lower cost and with reduced administrative burden. Interoperability is a critical enabler to deliver public cross-border and cross-sector services but we need to understand what it is and how we can  use it in an effectual manner.

The IOPEU Academy allows every citizen, irrespective of their background to become knowledgeable in interoperability and gain advanced digital skills by following an adaptable training path with hand-on trainings.
